The one thing Palin's more qualified for than Quayle ever was is being a source of lulz.

The problem is that she's so absolutely braindead that her comments don't make hilarious soundbites. At best, we're going to get a few catchphrases from this, which is almost unfortunate. At least Quayle could string concepts together into vaguely coherent thoughts. Ridiculously incorrect and flawed thoughts, admittedly. But thoughts.

(I've already started using "Did you know you can see Russia from Alaska? INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE" when someone is claiming experience in something through complete non sequitars.)

Also, SNL parody vs. real interview comparison

I stand by all the misstatements that I've made.

I was a Quayle Quarterly subscriber, actually. I think snarky laughter was all that got me through those dark years. :D

But at least they don't devolve into random words and "um, uh" segments, connecting unrelated soundbytes! :D

I think every time I wander off to totally irrelevant things in a conversation, I'll close the tangent with "LIPSTICK!"

Quayle was the poster child for the Peter Principle. He is/was a good financial person in the Senate, but he was not a good leader or speaker. Kind of like Paul Otellini (current CEO of Intel). If it isn't in a comfort area, his improv sucks. Dan should have stayed in the Senate playing with the sharks than trying to run with the wolves ;)
