Well, I mean, I'm not on LJ for the emo kids, but that's really the main demographic, and it was never even marketed as anything else. Vox was marketed as "LJ for adults" for awhile, but (or therefore?) it's barely a blip on the blog radar, so you don't have the community dynamics thing. I sometimes think vox was an attempt to siphon off the older (and more likely to have money therefore be a more valuable segment) community from LJ while 6A had it. Even the x-posting to LJ bit feels like it was intended to ease the transition. For my part, I've been dropping the vox as an alternative primarily because of the friends/family privacy features and comment systems, because they're the closest to those standout aspects of LJ that I don't see many other places. (I must admit, thought, I do like the 100+ icons thing ;) I'm definitely slowly unrooting from LJ and diversifying my netspace... stuff like FriendFeed are some of google's stuff are making me hope that maybe it won't be painfully long before social networking starts peeling open and we'll all be more portable across website lines.
Also, srsly. Someone probably has a post somewhere detailing why it's technically incorrect to call it a strike, cuz it sure seems like it's a misuse of the term.
